Questions to Consider

Feel free to ask and answer any questions here. Here are some to think about:

What is God?…How can we relate to Him, Her, It, i.e., Hermit?…Why bother?…What role does a concept of God play in modern scientific method?…Are there regions of reality beyond what current science is able to study?…Is it possible to relate to God without doing so through religion?…If so, why go to temple, church, mosque, etc.?

What relation do the “great markers” of religion, e.g., Moses, Zoroaster, Jesus, Lao Tse, Buddha, Krishna, Muhammad, etc., have to God, the Divine, the Transcendent, etc.?… Is there a spiritual “field” or “dimension” between ourselves and God, that is irrelevant or only tangential to religion?…Is it sensible to conceive of God as a “person” or is it better to think of God as permanent “cause”, “energy”, or “sustaining love”?…Does God connect with us?…Can we connect with God?…Or is our spiritual activity mostly (self-psyching, people-controlling) mythology?…When we go to church, what are we about, anyway…Is it a waste of time?

Is it not possible that life-after-death occurs in a fashion that has no resemblance to the pictures the various religions give us?…Is there a “clearinghouse” in heaven to keep track of all our virtues and sins? Does all religion smell bad just because some of it does?…Or does spirituality give meaning to life so that we can experience the transcendent and find joy in creation and love for it and for one another?

These are only a few of the questions all of us have? At Muncie Friends Meeting, we will tell you what we believe but not tell you what you should believe. Perhaps, together, we can open some doors so that you can find out for yourself. And, who knows, you might open some doors for us!
